Salou is the main resort in the Costa Dorada and offers great holiday deals throughout the summer

Dorada -  gold, is the perfect name for this Spanish Costa. It is a favourite holiday destination, with it’s offerings of sunny weather, long golden sands, sparkling sea and warm friendly hospitality.  The Costa Dorada starts just beneath Barcelona and stretches to Tarragona. It is a different coast line to the Costa Brava in the north, less rocky and blessed with many miles of superb flat golden beaches with clean fine sand, lapped by warm blue sea.  Here you can find the perfect holiday, enjoy an exhilarating nightlife, take pleasure in wonderful panoramic views as well as finding little villages tucked away plus the great national parks, with the best of natural history.

The Costa Dorada offers a number of well developed beach resorts, from Cunit to Mont-roig you will find the most beautiful, ideal for the family, long stretches of safe, clean beach, with lots of facilities from beach bars to ice cream sellers! The Ebro delta again has wide beaches and fine sand - ideal for the family holiday.
Salou town is six miles west of Tarragona and fifty miles from Barcelona and has all the amenities you could want for a seaside holiday as well as being a great base for exploring the surrounding area.  Many towns are built around their castle, still watching out across the sea for pirates, blending the old and the new as well as providing every service the visitor could want.

Nestling in the valleys of the mountains set back from the coast are picturesque, quiet towns and flourishing farmlands with almond trees, olives, vegetables and vineyards, where some of the Spanish red wines are produced.  Venture inland a little and explore the interesting towns and villages of Reus, Valls, Montblanc or Tortosa, and don‘t miss the fantastic monasteries of Scala Dei, Santes Creus and Poble.  The area around Prades and Siurana have great views and a beautiful location.

Or take a day out from the sun bed and go and see Barcelona, great shopping, wonderful food and drink, the sea of course plus Las Ramblas, stroll along and marvel at the human sculptures, musicians and street sellers. Go and see the unbelievable unfinished cathedral and see Gaudi’s fantastic houses and park.
Maybe visit Tarragona, a historic city where you can follow the history of the of Roman occupation in Catalonia. It was the Roman capital of the entire Iberian peninsula and Julius Caesar, Augustus, Pompey and Hannibal were all visitors.  There is the Roman Amphitheatre to see and you should also visit the cathedral.

Looking for family activities? The Aqualeon Aquapark offers amazing shows with birds, marine animals, birds of prey and reptiles. The water park has impressive slides, pool with giant waves, river rapids and children's pool. Add in the zoo and lots of cafes, restaurants and shops to make it a great family day out.  Or try Universal Mediterranea with it’s theme park, aquatic park, Hotels and the  Port Aventura with five themed areas with lots of rides, shows and much more, a great day out for all the family.

A great destination for all the family, for top class hotels, budget breaks and super beaches with lots to do, this really is the Golden Costa !
