Great hotel deals in Costa Almeria, the sunniest resort in Southern Spain

Costa Almeria offers real value for money all year round. Great hotel deals are available on Quickrooms.com from 2015 through to 2016.

Costa Almeria stretches from Roquetas de Mar on the southern coast of Spain in the region of Andalusia to the border with Murcia, on the east coast of the country.  It is a region of huge contrasts, from wild, rocky seascapes to the only European desert. You will find little whitewashed villages clinging to the hill sides to wide open beaches with lots of space and wonderful clean seas. There are great Golf Courses, too with excellent facilities for the visitor.

In Roquetas de Mar there is a theatre, a bullring, a water fun park and an 18 hole golf course. Walking along the promenade, which is over ten kilometres long, there are bars and restaurants with a terrace at the beach side.

Almeria has great appeal, built at the foot of a mountain range, topped by the magnificent Alcazaba, an Arab fortress built by the Caliph of Cordoba.  Spend time within Almeria’s winding streets, visit its fine museums, and dining out on the local cuisine.

The Cabo de Gata is a protected natural area, offering great chances for bird watching, rambling and walking.  There are small villages with wonderful views, super beaches and a laid back life style. Maybe try Aqua Amarga, really stunning or Carboneras with sea front restaurants and a good beach.

Mojacar, stretching some distance along the coast,  is busy in the summer, perhaps the most popular holiday resort, in the area, with a hill top town well worth exploring, long sandy beaches with beach bars dotted around as well as a 4 star Parador hotel and lots of good quality hotel and self catering properties.  Here you will find the tourist pubs as well as food from every country!  Ideal for feeding a young family !

Not far away is Garrucha, a fishing port, with a busy fleet which supplies the local fish and sea food restaurants. Smaller than Mojacar, it is quieter and more compact.

You will find Vera town a little inland from it’s seaside area, Vera Playa. Vera has plenty of shopping opportunities as well as the main square for a coffee. But most visitors head for the beach, a long, clean and sandy stretch with lots of water sports, restaurants and cafes offering everything from fish and chips to Paella.

The coast line between Vera and the north is spectacular, with winding roads and great sea views, with little coves and small secluded sandy beaches tucked away between the rocky outcrops. If you are looking for a peaceful hideaway, this area is undisturbed by modern development.  San Juan de los Terreros is a small holiday village, popular with the Spanish holiday maker with small hotels and lots of self catering properties.  It has smaller but clean, beautiful sandy beaches. It is followed up the coast by Aguilas, which is bigger and offers more choice and variety.

However, Costa Almeria is not all about the coast!  Car hire is easy and relatively inexpensive, so get out and about.  Try Sorbas with it’s village houses clinging onto the rock face, local potteries and a few nice restaurants around the main square.  A little further on you will find Tabernas, famous for being the centre of the only European desert as well as the location for the film set of the Clint Eastwood films A fistful of Dollars and it‘s sequels.

This is a many faceted area of Spain, not as busy as the Costa del Sol, with smaller, quieter more Spanish resorts, as well as the busy areas around the larger towns. Many resorts are ideal for children and families.  It offers superb weather, beautiful beaches, lots of accommodation to choose from and the chance of a really relaxing holiday!

One of Spain’s most famous Costas, the Costa Blanca is both everything you thought it was, sunny with long sandy beaches and great nightlife as well as many things you might not imagine, quiet sleepy villages, great local food and inexpensive family run hotels. Whichever aspect you explore, you will find a really warm friendly welcome, excellent value for money and the terrific sunshine !
