Hotels in Cairo

Hotels in Cairo can be found on the quickrooms site. We have cheap hotel deals in Egypt across all resorts so have a look and grab a bargain hotel or apartment.

Cairo is one of the most amazing cities on earth. From quiet back streets steeped in history and populated by friendly Egyptians to the huge international hotels where the heat, hustle and noise seem worlds away.

This is an experience like no other, the unbelievable Egyptian treasures, ranging from the Tutankhamen exhibition in the Cairo Museum, which also houses many other Egyptian antiquities found by Howard Carter, Lord Carnarvon and many other explorers and archaeologists. This is a must see destination, the treasures on show are breathtaking, from pharaohs mummies to wrist bracelets worn thousands of years ago. Perhaps try to go in a quieter time of the day, before or after the coach parties, like most of Cairo, it can be busy!

A brief bus ride away are the Pyramids of Giza, somewhat surreal, set in the sandy desert, yet overlooking the great city itself. The area is full of visitors, camel handlers and the hawkers selling almost everything. Yet walk away a few yards, and the huge size and splendour of these unique structures is quickly appreciated. With the Sphinx close at hand, this is an area of the city not to be missed.

Cairo is the starting point for many excursions in Egypt, from river cruises on the majestic Nile to Luxor, Abu Simbel, Aswan Dam and more. These stretch from a few days to a week or more and provide an excellent way of seeing many famous sights from the comfort of your floating hotel.

Cairo itself holds many treasures to explore from the souks and markets to the huge Mosque of Muhammad Ali Pasha or Alabaster Mosque situated in the Citadel of Cairo commissioned by Muhammad Ali Pasha between 1830 and 1848. This mosque, with the citadel, is one of the first features to be seen when approaching the city.

For the more adventurous, seek out the City of the Dead, but always hire a reputable, recommended guide if you decide to enter. You will not believe how hundreds if not thousands of people live a normal life among the tombs.

Do be prepared for the most amazing experience covering the wonderful treasures, the mighty river and the interesting people, culture and architecture. This is truly a civilisation and a city like no other!
